On the face of it, using Instagram to promote a jewelry & accessories brand might seem like a slam-dunk. But it’s not so simple – just as there are many tastes in fashion, so too in IG.

That’s why we love Sira & Mara – what better way to show off your brand’s personality than by actually being the brand? Sandy Bodeau isn’t just the boss, she’s the face of the company. She models the product on Instagram and injects an amazing personalty into the brand that gives potential customers an idea of how great they can look.

Because we like Sira & Mara so much, we did a short interview with founder – and chief pose striker – Sandy Bodeau.

Why did you start using Instagram?
I started using Instagram as an easy way to promote Sira&Mara

What are the greatest success you’ve had? And what are some of your failures?
The greatest success that we have experienced via Instagram has been landing distribution deals with boutiques around the world (Spain, Italy and Qatar among others)

What do you love about using Instagram from a small business point of view?
What I love the most about Instagram from a small business point of view is the amount of exposure it can give you at no cost. Additionally, it allows us to interact with our customers one-on-one in a very dynamic way.

What are your best tips for other small businesses using Instagram? Why should they use it?
My best tip for another small business would be “take the time to learn your audience”. Once you learn your audience, you will learn what content gets more engagement. Listen to their feedback, reply to comments and take time to follow similar accounts and engage with them as well.

He tried Vancouver for a few years, but the call of home was too strong to resist. Today he lives in the North-East Upper Beaches. (What? It’s a thing!)
